The SOC Purple and Lime Green

A few of my Mixed media friends and I got together to do the gelli plate and transfers. I had so much fun using the gelli plate to make my Summer of Color this week. This one I also used the tape transfer. I like how much color showed up in the transfer. I also used book pages on my gelli plate. I had a hard time finding the right color of purple I liked so I ended up using purple copy paper.

I like the green color I mixed in this one it is closest to lime green but I still didn't get a very good purple.

This one didn't have any green oops I thought the green spray would work but it looks like yellow.

This one I got the green right but couldn't get the purple right it's so dark. I really wanted a bright purple. I had no idea it was so hard to make a lovely bright purple. Purple is my favorite color so I was a bit discouraged about this. I'll keep trying to get a better purple or go out and buy one.

Happy Creating!

Summer of Color 3 - Hot Pink and Orange!

Hot Pink and Orange

I started with this gelli plate print I made a month ago. I used hot pink, gold and red acrylic paints and a Martha Stewart brayer with a flower roller. There was no orange so, I colored in some of the white spots with orange highlighter.

It's a bit overcast so I had a hard time getting the orange to pop out.

I have been experiencing many unhappy people, unhappy experiences and overall stress. This song popped into my head and it made sense we all need to relax understanding life is like a dream. Life is hard but it all works out. Like my Aunt Toni says, "It's all in divine order."

I wrote the words on the paper with a Micron pen and drew a bit with a white gel pen.

Strawberry Fields Forever
Living is easy with eyes closed misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone, but it all works out, it doesn't matter much to me.
Let me take you down cuz I'm going to Strawberry Fields...
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.

Creative Spark!

Thanks to Kristen from Twinkle Twinkle  I am inspired with a creative spark to make art, jewelry and whatever comes to mind, in color. She is hosting "Summer of Color Artists Choice 2013" every week she has a poll on color combos and we all vote then make something creative with the colors. This is the first week.

 The colors are-

Citron Green & Turquoise.

I decided to make an art piece.

I started with a gelli print I had made last month in my shop. It had some of the colors as you can see.

I added this Dylusions spray in citron green and used this beautiful Lumiere sparkly dark turquoise.

Shelf liner from the kitchen is great for texture.

I also used a circle punchinella with the spray.

I got paint all over my fingers looks like mermaid skin.

I used these supplies. I love the Lumiere metallic to make a turquoise to paint this paper for the blind it has such neat texture bumps.

I cut this paper up into circles and funny swirly shapes.

This was my watercolor paper I used underneath the others to avoid paint on my desk. It turned out neat so I used it as the background paper.

I then glued all the shapes down. I drew a woman and flowers on the circles as well as a bird wheel, waves, and a little boarder.

I randomly drew some cards from my Wayne Dyer inner wisdom deck and these lovely sayings came to me. I have had some things in my life that appeared to be problems but I realized they were my negative thoughts. These quotes really drove it home to me. Above her head it says-
" I work on my problems, and release them."
In the swirl it says-
"Anything that bothers you is only a problem within only you can experience it and only you can correct it."
I had more words but I wasn't sure where to put them so I laid them down all over the place trying to find the right composition.
They landed on the gelli print-
" I trust the perfection of the universe."
Send out love and harmony, put your mind and body in a peaceful place, and then allow the universe to work in the perfect way it knows how."

Finally it came together I outlined the words and added the word TRUST to the bottom as a reminder that whatever is happening in my life I can trust it has a lesson and meaning. My thoughts about it might not be true and so I should question those and try to stay positive. Art does heal! :)

This is so fun I can't wait to see what next weeks color is, my guess is it might be watermelon and tangerine? These sound like wonderful colors.

Have a great day!
Love,
Chandra

Flyers Art Journal Swap!

I am doing an Art Journal Swap with 10 women from my Flying Lessons class with KRR who live all over the United States and one in Canada. We handmade our journals out of watercolor or mixed media paper. Then we decorated the cover, and the inside first two pages.

This Art Journal is made by Lori Ann! I like how she wrote Around the World as her theme. She used a nice wooden button and ribbon for the closure.

Her Journal is the first in line for me. Then it gets passed on to Sandy in Canada

Warning Lori Ann if you don't want to see the art in your journal look no further...

Then it was my turn to create! I wanted to stick with her theme that seemed to be earthy and included animals. We don't have to do this but for me I wanted to reflect her interests. That's what felt right for this journal.

I started off creating a back ground of blues and green with my acrylic paint and a brush. I added some lighter green texture by painting with the plastic liner for drawers.

Then I used my gelli plate papers with stencils of letters, birds, flowers, leaves and rocks. I cut them out and made a collage with them. I colored on and around them to make them stand out a bit.

The rocks I added a bit of texture too.

I added some more paint to the bird because it was a bit too plain for me. I used this great metallic paint in purple and gold for the outline and then brown and blue dots for the body.
The leaves are from a flower stencil I had. I thought they looked like tree branches.

The yellow flower is from a stencil that I won from Jessica Sporn. She makes lovely stencils.

I made a gelli print of these letters and had no idea what to do with them. Then I realized I could cut them out and make words. I do love spring! I also painted the edges in yellow and outlined the letters.

Here is the entire layout. I added the sun from a yellow gelli print page by cutting it out freehand.

My signature hehe, in the rocks- I love rocks.

Happy creating!

Shop closed now for new beginnings...

Bye Bye Shop!

I gave away the keys to the shop today to some wonderful Artists. Three women who make art, jewelry and photos. They are now taking the dive into creative biz. I wish them all the best!

Here's the baby bump growing fast! We just found out it's a girl! I am so happy now we can really get some names down. My daughter Evangeline is so happy to have a sister. She has already picked out her name although we don't all agree yet she thinks her name should be Alexis (Lexi) Miley. I vote for the old names like Vivian, Isabella, Hazel etc.

Here's where I wish I could go to relax for a while. I was so busy moving my shop as you can see in the above picture. I had to put everything in bags instead of boxes so I could carry it all out with this big belly. I moved it all on my own with my husband and friend moving the one big piece of furniture and my husband in the end helping with the tables and chairs. It was hard I still have piles of stuff all over the house, and no where for it to go. I have also been busy volunteering for the meditation center. Just when I finally thought I could relax I can't, I have to figure out where to put all this leftover stuff and get a job.

I was going to start a face painting biz, I wanted to change my web site to parties, face painting, jewelry and crafts for children and adults. I did face painting as a tester at Evangeline's school Art Walk. This was fun and we raised just on donation $50- $25 for us and $25 for the school. But I guess it doesn't really pay the bills so I better find a regular job. I don't know if anyone will hire a pregnant woman but we will see. So I am on to new beginnings, another day another life. I am still going to have my Mixed Media Art Group every Thursday. And I will continue to make art, jewelry and such once I get my stuff organized. I have been baking some delicious chocolate cream pies, black bottom cupcakes, oatmeal cookies and lemon bars, yummy, all gluten and sugar free. So on life it goes... happy to have a baby girl coming and new things to do.

Have a wonderful day!

When I picked the word growth for this year I had no idea what was in store for me. Hoping it was in business I jumped right in.
In these past few months I have been in a whirlwind of changes. I have GROWN in so many ways, I must express it to you! We are expecting a new baby! My belly has grown a baby bump about 16 weeks old now. It's a miracle!

My husband wanted to have children when we got married two years ago. I was pregnant and miscarried, then six months later pregnant again and miscarried again. I think he gave up on having children with me thinking it wasn't going to happen. Then it happened! Miracle!! This one survived. It has been a roller coaster of emotions around this between both of us. On top of that I was so nauseous every strong smell made me sick, I was emotional and super sensitive. I couldn't eat hardly anything. Now I am past that sickness part. I am so happy to be able to eat whatever I want and smell all strong scents. We are past the scary part and the baby is strong and alive! She or he has a strong heart beat, growing every day. This is amazing. We will soon have a new baby to love and raise. A beautiful baby! October 10th is the due date.

With the baby coming we have decided to close the shop. I am in the process of moving crafts, beads, and such out of The Cozy Craft Corner. I have emptied out drawers, sold my jewelry cheap, and am in the process of giving back and selling the furniture. I painted a large long painting to say goodbye. Using Flora Bowley's way of letting go and getting the feelings out in the paint, while using different ways of painting. I used a huge long brush in this part to make the rain look, squirted paint from the tube, used bubble wrap, paint brushes and splattered paint. This is my favorite section of the painting. It is very long and this picture is of the middle.

Here is a picture of the entire painting made at The Cozy Craft Corner.

So now is the time to figure out how to make my creative dreams real even though the shop is gone. My daughter brings inspiration to me all the time. She was face painting other children at the Earth Day Festival for free. Just for fun. Someone came up and told me if she really likes this she could have a career as a face painter and she can pay her way through collage with it. She was excited and wanted to try it out. I used to do face painting for the children for Family Fun Day at my old job. It was s o much fun! I love to see the happiness it brings the children! So, I looked into it a bit. There is a woman in Sacramento who teaches it and I will take her class to learn more. Then I was on FB yesterday and one of my artist friends had made a flyer for her "coolage parties" she calls them. This struck a note with me. I love parties! Earlier this month my cousin said I should have jewelry parties. So the universe is telling me something! Start a party business. I had a few successful parties at The Cozy Craft Corner. I have a list of cool children's parties because I wanted to do those a while ago. Guess what? I can do both Adult and Children's Parties! Yes another business opportunity is surfacing! It's a great idea.

I decided to call it "Fun and Creative Parties"
I am working on a sub domain on The Cozy Craft Corner web site. My creativity will go on and I will always be inspired!

I am excited to keep my Mixed Media Group going. We have all bonded and have a creative community of Artists now. This I strive for. A positive social group of creative artists. We are going on field trips and are looking for different places to have our meetings. I look forward to meeting every week with them for as long as possible.

Have a wonderful day!

Here is a positive thought's blog you might like, I know I do!

Positive change will happen in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over, instead of craving control over the uncontrollable.

No matter what happens, YOU control what the meaning is, and what to do with the meaning you give to the circumstances around you.

If you are sad about what's going on in your life right now, pause and just remember one permanent fact ,everything changes, and tomorrow might be different. However ...continue reading http://positive-thoughts.typepad.com/
