Beacon of Light from Life Book (LB)

I enjoyed this activity. Create a beacon of light. This being is guiding you in your life. I started out with drawing my Spiritual Guide. But I couldn't paint it for some reason. So I just sat and breathed and did the lesson trying to be my authentic self and look who appeared! Me. Actually the girl looks nothing like me because I was trying to copy Tam's girl. Then words like Intuition, Devine me and my word of the year Authenticity came into the picture. I added colors and stamps and she was created. My Beacon of Light!

Life Book 2015

Yes I am doing Life Book this year!

Here is my warm up exercise given by Tam.
It was fun!

I added my word for the year Authentic. This year I plan on being my authentic self. Being the true me, honoring me, letting me be me. Letting the real me be seen. Who know's what will arise but I feel it's really me. Creative, passionate, strong embracing my authenticity.

Mixed Media with Twinks

A bird is looking into the daisy.

 The peacock feather is beautiful!

Daisies

A leaf and other abstract shapes.

Purple daisy.

The whole picture! Not finished yet.

Finished.

A fun mixed media piece using stamps, painting with twinkling h2o's, stencils, words, pen, and textured foam prints.

When the sun shines you can see so much of the world in all it's beauty. The light reflects special color on every living thing from birds to flowers. What is it that you see? Do you really look at the beauty the sun brings every day?

Summer Of Color Pink and Grey

These colors remind me of Molly Ringwald in the 80's she wore so much pink and grey! I think she grew up in Sacramento and I played with her in her apartment by McKinley park upstairs. Just a funny memory!

Peek!
Music makes me happy especially upbeat positive music. When I was a child we would listen to lots of music. I love to sing! As I was making this art piece for SOC I was singing this song "I wanna live" by John Denver my Mom's favorite music when I was little. I wrote it on her dress. I added my own to words as well, I guess live tuned into life and I added other words like I wanna be enlightened, to it as well.

I used a doily and a stencil of peacock feathers to make pink prints over the background grey gelli print on black paper. This woman is a stencil I drew after seeing some great women stencils from stencil girl. I want to get them but I couldn't wait so I made my own drawing and cut it out. I drew flowers and swirly hair. I also added some tape to the sides.

I made a second woman with my gelli print background a Super star!

I just love the background gelli print in this one. I drew the heart with wings into the silver paint on the gelli plate and printed on black paper. I painted the pink highlights.

I used the stencil in this one as well but changed her arms and legs a little.

My last one was a very textured gelli print to begin with. I drew the stencil in backwards and painted in her pink hair and peacock stenciled in her dress. I added a stool and the words step up! She looks like she's standing for something maybe equality, strength or compassion.

I had a lot of fun with these! I just happened to make the gelli prints with my mixed media group last week and this week I finished them with my mixed media group as well. I enjoy getting together to make art with others, it's so inspiring! The creative energy fills the room.

Happy Creating!

Flyers Art Journal Swap!

I am doing an Art Journal Swap with 10 women from my Flying Lessons class with KRR who live all over the United States and one in Canada. We handmade our journals out of watercolor or mixed media paper. Then we decorated the cover, and the inside first two pages.

This Art Journal is made by Lori Ann! I like how she wrote Around the World as her theme. She used a nice wooden button and ribbon for the closure.

Her Journal is the first in line for me. Then it gets passed on to Sandy in Canada

Warning Lori Ann if you don't want to see the art in your journal look no further...

Then it was my turn to create! I wanted to stick with her theme that seemed to be earthy and included animals. We don't have to do this but for me I wanted to reflect her interests. That's what felt right for this journal.

I started off creating a back ground of blues and green with my acrylic paint and a brush. I added some lighter green texture by painting with the plastic liner for drawers.

Then I used my gelli plate papers with stencils of letters, birds, flowers, leaves and rocks. I cut them out and made a collage with them. I colored on and around them to make them stand out a bit.

The rocks I added a bit of texture too.

I added some more paint to the bird because it was a bit too plain for me. I used this great metallic paint in purple and gold for the outline and then brown and blue dots for the body.
The leaves are from a flower stencil I had. I thought they looked like tree branches.

The yellow flower is from a stencil that I won from Jessica Sporn. She makes lovely stencils.

I made a gelli print of these letters and had no idea what to do with them. Then I realized I could cut them out and make words. I do love spring! I also painted the edges in yellow and outlined the letters.

Here is the entire layout. I added the sun from a yellow gelli print page by cutting it out freehand.

My signature hehe, in the rocks- I love rocks.

Happy creating!

International Mixed Media Postcard Swap!

I joined an International Postcard Swap and so I made some Valentines! Here they are...

I was supposed to make 10 but made more they were so fun! I love Love and hearts and paint!

I got some heart punchinella from a friend at the Mixed Media Meetup I hold in the shop. I love it!

I used acrylics, stamps, brail paper ( from another woman in my mixed media group) and cut out magazine hearts. I liked putting the ink on the brail bumps. I had a great time decorating the envelopes as well because Shannon wanted us to protect them rather than send them as a postcard in the mail. I put a cute snail stamp on the other side where the real stamp would have gone. I also had a cute To: stamp that had a mailbox filled with Valentines.

I want to thank Shannon for having this swap! I loved it. I hope those that received them did too!

Happy Valentines! I love Valentines :) Love,

Chandra

I also love comments! Thanks for stopping by.

Ready for the New Year!

I am so ready for the New Year 2013! This year is going to be awesome! I feel it in my bones. As you can tell I have changed the look of my blog. The background is tan and I have made a banner above of me teaching, my jewelry, art and collage from the past year. This is just the beginning. I plan on many more changes for this year.

My Business is changing. I am looking into creating a wonderful space in The Cozy Craft Corner for Artists. A community of Artists with similar goals. It will be a membership shop. Where you join and have many perks to the membership. Perks are; your own space in the shop to sell your goods, one class teaching a month, you get to be part of an amazing group of Artists, have a community of creativity, get to work in the shop! You get your art out there and join in a creative community. I am still working on this and fine tuning it. So keep an eye out for more details in January 2013.

I took Kelly Rae's business class and have learned so much, met many new friends and felt a movement in energy towards future goals. I learned that I love mixed media art and have been doing it I just didn't know what it was called. I have started a mixed media group on meetup. To learn more about it, and meet other artists. I couldn't find anything in Sacramento about mixed media. So I am creating it! This already has so much interest I am excited to see how it turns out. I have various mixed media classesat the shop already Artist Trading Cards, Journals, Collage and this month we are going to do a collage for what we want in this coming year, like a treasure map or vision board. It has many names but all the same effects. You gather pictures from magazines and create your future. If you visualize what you want it will come. manifestation is a powerful tool! This is one of the ways my shop came about.

Here is my piece I worked on in the meetup!

I also have my jewelry classes on meetup under wire wrap jewlery. The jewelry classes are earrings, bracelets, pendants and rings.
I might throw in a few beaded bracelets and necklaces. I know I have had many comments on this necklace that is beaded and woven in a graduated color scheme.

Personally I am so happy to be able to do what I love! Create Art! I love making ATCs and have a great group to trade with. I am creating more inspirational card decks, these are so fun! I am dabbling in mixed media art. I am making an art journal. I am signed up for a book group where we read The Artists Way and take a month to do each chapter. I am hoping to take Life Book

I have not signed up yet, I will soon. I am teaching Dharma again, Prayers for World Peace and a Mala class. I am creating more jewelry and growing a business. How fun! I am really looking forward to this year and what it has to offer me and all those around me. I hope to do everything with ease, patience and love.

Happy New Year!
